This is our story....
In 1994 a 36 year old business man by the name of Frank Nohra known as “The Melon Man” was operating his fruit and vegetable agency in the Sydney Produce Markets. Dealing predominantly in Potatoes, Onions, Watermelons and Pumpkins, he completed his hard day’s work, jumped on a forklift and drove down to the local service station at the markets to refuel before his drive home. Upon entering the store to pay for his fuel he noticed the owner of the service station spitting bullets over how bad business was.
A month later Frank found himself behind the counter of the service station selling petrol after his early 1am starts in the market. Frank being a collector from his early childhood days, went to his local model shop and purchased some new releases from UT and Franklin Mint. He proceeded to the service station to close up for the night with his two models in hand. One of his final customers noticed the two models and ask how much they were. Frank being new to the business and eager to make a sale, brings one of the models over, shows the customer and voile, His first ever model car sale!
As Frank headed home, he realised an opportunity to stock a few shelves with model cars, with the intention to boost sales in his new business. The following day, Frank began contacting local distributors and wholesalers with the intention of creating a small range of road cars. After establishing his new found idea, the amount of attention and interest his collection was generating quickly prompted him to turn this hobby into a full throttle business. Alas, the birth of Exclusive Models and Collectables.
In the following years a strong business foundation was laid. Frank had begun building a loyal following of collectors, and to keep these collectors coming back, Frank decided to launch what was soon to become the “Exclusive Model Cars & Collectables Collectors Club”. This allowed regular and loyal collectors to receive a 10% discount on their purchases.
In the preceding years Exclusive Model Cars & Collectables became the market leader in die cast models and collectables, featuring at major sporting events including the Bathurst 1000.
In 2002 Exclusive Model Cars & Collectables entered the manufacturing market with its first ever product under the Exclusive Model Cars brand. The EMC-001; a 90cm long Mack Vision with a B-Double trailer. The instant success of the B-Double product meant it was rushed into manufacture with a range of in-excess of 21 different designs and prime movers.
Today, our plan is to establish 180 retail outlets throughout Australia. All being completely integrated and uniform with the vision of each franchisee sharing in the successes of the Exclusive Collectables brand and product range. Our product range is distinct with features in our stores along side exclusive product releases from the Exclusive Collectables brand portfolio. Exclusive Collectables as a brand also benefits from long term relationships with manufacturers and distributors both locally and abroad.
Established as a family owned and operated business, Exclusive Collectables is still operated by its founders. Today Exclusive Collectables has grown from its humble beginnings as an independent die cast model car and collectable retailer, to a leader in the industry with involvement in 5 key sectors that have a direct influence on our niche market. Today we manufacture hobby and collectable products, distribute leading brands, publish magazines, and keep true to our heritage through retail sales. More recently, the benefit of a thriving business is available through our newly developed and fully integrated franchise system.
